The Opportunity

We’re looking for a talented Data Scientist to join our team and play a key role in building and enhancing our customer-facing AI products, directly shaping the user experience. You’ll also be instrumental in designing our internal tools for robust model evaluation, interpreting A/B testing, and in-house trained models. Reporting directly to the Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAIO), your contributions will be highly visible and critical to our success.

Job Description

  • GenAI, LLM & Machine Learning Innovation: Design, prototype, and develop innovative GenAI, Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning models and LLM-based applications to enrich customer offerings and create internal tools. Implement and fine-tune foundation models (e.g., OpenAI’s GPT, Whisper) and other large language models. Develop and optimize algorithms for natural language processing (NLP) and Language models (Speech-to-text) to improve model performance and efficiency.
  • Agent Development: Lead the design and implementation of intelligent conversational agents and autonomous AI agents (RAG) for various business functions. Optimize existing agents and ensure communication and coordination with the dev team to deploy models to production.
  • Architect a stronger Data Science Platform: Build robust, scalable, and reusable datasets, tools, and frameworks that empower efficient model training, evaluation, A/B testing, and streamlined model training across the organization.
  • Data & Analysis for GenAI: Identify, collect, and prepare specialized, high-quality datasets for training and fine-tuning Transformers, ML or Deep learning models. Define metrics and build evaluation frameworks to assess the performance of GenAI models and agents. Analyze model behavior, customer behavior, and performance data to extract powerful analytical insights.
  • Champion Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with our software engineers, product owners, and key business stakeholders, translating business needs into technical solutions and ensuring flawless integration.
  • Drive Projects End-to-End: Take full ownership of data science initiatives, from initial ideation and prototyping through to successful deployment and continuous optimization, ensuring high-quality, impactful outcomes.

Core Competencies

  • Strong Scientific and Analytical Mindset: Master’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related scientific field. Ability to not only derive profound insights from complex data but also to articulate them clearly and compellingly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Python Mastery: High proficiency in Python for all aspects of data science, including data manipulation, advanced analytics, and ML development. Experience with Pytorch or TensorFlow is a plus.
  • Production ML Expertise: Proven hands-on experience in training, optimizing, and successfully deploying machine learning or deep learning models, into live production environments (e.g. classification, recommendation, search engine, prediction).
A minimum of 3 years of experience is required.
  • LLM Applications: Solid experience in building and deploying applications powered by Large Language Models (LLMs), e.g. Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems or conversational agents. Familiarity with Whisper is a plus.
  • Cloud + Agile: Practical experience operating within cloud platform (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure). Familiar with the principal of agile development.
  • Customer-Centric Impact: A clear track record of developing applications and leading projects that directly serve and enhance client or customer-facing solutions.
  • Growth Mindset & Curiosity: An insatiable desire to learn, adapt, and continuously improve, coupled with a deep curiosity for new technologies and innovative solutions.
  • Go-Getter Attitude: A proactive, results-oriented approach, ready to tackle challenges head-on and drive initiatives forward.

Why Join Our Team?

  • Shape the Future of AI: Work on the bleeding edge of AI and LLMs, with a direct and measurable impact on our customer-facing products and overall business growth.
  • Global & Flexible: Thrive in a fully remote, international, and multicultural team environment that values solving real-life challenges.
  • Impact & Growth: Be part of a small, agile structure where your voice is heard, and your ideas valued.
  • Compensation: Nexcom offers a compensation that matches your experience, skills and location. As this is a remote position, the salary will be based on these parameters. The salary range for this role is €45,000-€90,000 per year.  Candidates with advanced expertise, additional skills and/or based in higher cost-of-living areas may be offered towards the higher end of the range.

Please note: Only applications submitted in English will be considered for this position. Also, candidates must reside in Europe and hold a valid work permit for the EU or UK.
